Tens take Turf title!

The 2020 IBC 10U Purple team didn’t waste much time making the new season a winning one, capturing their first title of the year at the GSL Indoor Turf Wars tournament in Centralia, Wash., from Feb.7-9.

The 10U team put up five runs in a pivotal second-inning and held on against the Shoreline Royals in the championship game, capping off a perfect 4-0 weekend.

Highlights included go-ahead RBIs by Jack Rooney in three of the four games, a complete-game victory with nine strikeouts for Jaxon “Lip” Lipnickey, and a team-high five RBIs for Nathan Dow plus exceptional defense, with only one error in the entire tournament.

“The kids played really well and deserved this championship,” 10U Purple manager Shane Rooney said. “Every single one of them contributed to help the team reach this outcome.

“It was so great to see all the hard work they have been putting in during the winter pay off.”
