IBC's 2019 Slugfest a success

Once the final outs were recorded and the championship rings and T-shirts had been awarded to the deserving teams, it was time to reflect on yet another hugely successful Issaquah Slugfest tournament.

The 2019 version of the area’s premier Little League All-Star warmup tournament, which is organized and run by Issaquah Baseball Club, took place the weekend of June 15-16 and brought more than 40 area teams to nine Issaquah fields.

All three Issaquah Little League All-Star teams, plus the IBC 10U Gold and 9U and 8U Purple teams, were in action and fared well as they prepared for their District 9 tournaments.

The 2019 Slugfest champions were North Bothell in the 12U division, Edmonds Baseball Association in the 11U division, Issaquah White in the 10U division, Liberty Select in the 9U division, and West Seattle Red in the 8U division.

“We couldn’t have been happier with Slugfest in 2019,” IBC President Jared Carvalho said. “From the first pitch to the last, our club came together to put on a great All-Star warmup tournament that showcased the best players in the area and our terrific Issaquah Baseball community.

“Slugfest is lot of hard work but a labor of love. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids and families makes it worth every bit of the effort. The 2020 tournament can’t come soon enough.”
